In June of 2007, at the age of 46, Gary Hard lost his battle against ALS. But he leaves behind a legacy of courage and unwavering commitment to helping others with the disease.

Gary and baseball will always be indelibly linked. His passion and knowledge for the game was unsurpassed, and were not for ALS, Gary would have undoubtedly been one of the top coaches in the Conejo Valley Little League system.

Never-the-less, with the all of the physical limitations the disease presented, he still provided expert coaching tips to his sons; would be behind the backstop at their games rooting them on; and it was not unusual to see him at the end of a game dragging the infield on his motorized wheelchair, as the sun set in the sky.

The Gary Hard Memorial Field is a part of the Strike Out Lou Gehrig's Disease All Star Invitational Tournament. The money you contribute to Gary's field goes towards patient services and to help find a cure for ALS - two causes that were close to Gary's heart. Thank you for your contribution and for honoring Gary.
